Louisa DAR meets during Women’s History Month
The Louisa Chapter of DAR met on Tuesday March 22, 2016 in the conference room of the Lawrence County Library.
After the DAR Rituals were read, upcoming events were discussed. Being that March is Women’s History Month, Regent Mary E. Reid displayed a dress from the 1860’s Civil War era and one from the 1890’s era and they can still be viewed in the Lawrence Co. Library.
Tickets on seven donated items are for sale and the drawing will be at the May regular meeting. Also, there will be a silent auction and each member is encouraged to bring one item. This will be the Flag Day Celebration Dinner due to no meeting in June and July.
Louisa Daughters of the American Revolution is offering a free Genealogy Research Assistance Program. Anyone interested in research can bring documents or materials they want to review with them. Two DAR members will be present at the Library in the Genealogy Room on the 3rd Thursday of the month from 2:00-5:00 p.m. The next date will be April 21, 2016. Please come and join us!
Everyone enjoyed a delicious light meal prepared and served by the March Hostesses, Jenny Smith, Rachel Thacker, and Loretta Moore. Their theme was “Like Spring, DAR Is Blooming”.
Next meeting will be Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at 6:00 p.m in the conference room of the Lawrence County Library. See you there!
