WAYNE COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) – Crum Pre K-8 School was recognized on Wednesday by the West Virginia State Superintendent of Schools as an exemplary practice school for academics.
Math achievement at Crum Pre K-8 has increased by 23 percent during the past three years. For the school’s principal, the recognition goes far beyond the school’s success.
“I am just very proud to be part of this wonderful population,” Principal Nona Newsome said “I’m proud of this staff, I’m proud of these students, and I couldn’t imagine any other place I’d rather be.”
Crum is one of three schools in West Virginia to receive recognition for being an exemplary practice school in academics. The other two are also in our region: George Washington Middle School in Putnam County and Guyandotte Elementary School in Cabell County.
They have celebrations set for next month.
