LAWRENCE COUNTY: Cross drain replacement on KY 1185, a half-mile from the end of state maintenance (on the lake end of the road, not the KY 3 end) will start tonight at midnight.
The cross drain has collapsed, causing the pavement to drop at the site (see map below).
The road will be closed to all traffic. To replace a cross drain that runs underneath the pavement requires that the asphalt be sawed and removed across the entire width of the roadway to expose the trench beneath that holds the drain. The old drain is removed and the new one installed, backfilled, and the asphalt replaced.
The work should be finished by 7:00 a.m. tomorrow, Friday, April 23. Todd Moran, D12 Lawrence County Maintenance Superintendent, said the work is being done at night to cause the least interruption and inconvenience for people traveling to and from the lake.
