HOSA WINNERS IN FIRST YEAR 2025

Come out Saturday, May 17th to the LCHS Football Field parking lot to run or walk the 5K (Turkey Trot) route.

Donations will be greatly appreciated to help fund Louisa and Blaine Middle school students to go compete in the Health Occupation Students of America International competition that they qualified for at state!

This is the first year Lawrence County has opened the opportunity for middle school to compete in HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America). We started this year working under the high school chapter and reached out to all middle schools to participate. Louisa Middle School and Blaine Elementary signed on for the 24-25 school year.

In March, thirteen middle school students competed in the Kentucky State HOSA Leadership Conference in Louisville, KY. Every student placed within the top three in their respective events, which allows each to move on to international competition. Below we provided what each student placed in and their displays if their competition required one. HOSA’s primary purpose is to prepare students for careers in the healthcare industry by developing their leadership, technical, and communication skills through a program of motivation, awareness, and recognition. The organization also aims to promote career opportunities in healthcare and enhance the delivery of quality healthcare. Our high school currently has a very strong HOSA chapter.

The Health Occupations Students of America International Competition will take place at the Gaylord Opryland Convention Center in Nashville, TN during the week of June 18-21, 2025. This is an amazing opportunity for these students to represent our schools and district, as well as our community, and our state on an international level, while learning more about health careers, leadership, and service.

Currently the students are working to raise the funds needed to travel to compete this summer. This weekend May 17th, the students will be hosting a HOSA 5K. The event will start at 8 am and last until 11am. We are accepting donations in lieu of fee to participate. Participants can park in the lot across from the Louisa Middle School. The event will start in the parking area in front of the football weightroom on Bulldog Lane. The 5K will start in the parking lot, up Bulldog Lane, around the Lawrence County Community Center, then around the Louisa Middle School.

We invite everyone to come out to participate and have a good time while we raise money and get healthy. Come rain or shine we would love to see all the community this Saturday!
