Only Judge-Executive will have to run in November
LOUISA, KY. — On what turned out to be a wonderful day in Louisa with the American Idol production crew filming for local hero Noah Thompson, and a smooth election despite all the distractions, the internet went out for Lycom customers when a circuit broke and was off for 16 hours yesterday and this morning.
So these totals are a little late in posting.
Incumbents were ousted in two county-wide positions.
Republican Judge/Executive Phil Carter won what could be a third term by blasting school board chairman Heath Preston by nearly 1,000 votes, 1,381 – 417Ā and newcomer Johnny W. Osborne edged incumbent Brad Derifield 919-861. Derifield took over the office after the indictment of former CA Mike Hogan last year.
Carter will face Democrat William Spradlin in November.
Incumbent Mike Shapaka was ousted by former County Surveyor Cliff West 1,034- 629.
Judge Carter will face Democrat William Spradlin in November.
Carter issued the following statement today (Wednesday)
āI want to thank you for your overwhelming support.Ā It is humbling.Ā I am very appreciative.Ā It is a pleasure working for and helping the citizens of Lawrence County.Ā With the primary election behind us it is time to come together.Ā We have done some wonderful things for Lawrence County and have many more plans for the future.”
All the results are posted below but they are unofficial until today. The remainder of the fiscal court remained the same with District 2 Magistrate John Scaggs getting by Lee Peters 280-240 and David Pinson easily defeating former magistrate Earl Boggs 244-137 with Michael Chaffin garnering 15 votes.
At the top of the ticket incumbents Harold “Hal” Rogers and Senator Rand Paul won going away.

Remember the Lazer vote a few days ago where Heath beat Carter by about 150 votes? I believe it was something like 200 – 50. I can picture a certain candidate or his wife sitting there voting and then deleting cookies and then voting again – repeating this over and over.
I have made more important ones especially about January 6 2021 and the guy who led the insurrection.
