LCHS Bass Club Outdoor Goods Swap Meet Coming March 12
As winter fades, the effects of “cabin fever” are in full force. The winter of 2015-16 has been a mild one, but spring is in the air which means fishing season is upon us. With this in mind, the 2nd annual Lawrence County High School Bass Club Swap Meet will be held Saturday, March 12, 2016 at the Lawrence County High School commons area. Doors will open at 7:30AM for vendors and 9:00AM for the general public. Admission will be $5, with all Lawrence County students entering for free. Concessions will be sold during the event.
In the event’s second year, the swap meet has doubled in size. This is a promise made good by LCHS Bass Club head coach Brandon Meddings.
“Last year, around 12 vendors rented spaces with 150 members of the public attending the event. For this year, 20 vendors have been scheduled and there are more expected to arrive on Saturday morning,” Meddings says.
Although fishing and hunting teams are the main focus for this event, other goods may be sold. Past vendors, such as Anger Baits Company from Ashland, KY, will be attending and new vendors such as Time Warp Game & Collectibles from Ashland and K.L.M. Worms from Logan, WV. Anyone wishing to be a vendor may rent spaces for $10 per table the day of the event.
Not only has the event increased in size, but so has participation in the high school’s Bass Club. Fourteen students have joined the team this year up from five the year prior.
Bassmaster High School National Championship Qualifiers Michael Scaggs and Derek Null return for their senior year.
