Bulldogs and Engineers will clash on Youth League night at Luke Varney Jr. Memorial Stadium Friday

Louisa, Ky. — It will be Youth league night when the Lawrence County Bulldogs host the Estill County Engineers in a key District game on Friday night at Luke Varney Jr. Memorial Stadium. 

 

In addition to the District matchup with Estill County, tonight will be Three Rivers Med Center Youth League Night with all youth football league members getting in FREE!. The youth will also be recognized at halftime of the contest.

The Dawgs come in with a 6-1 record including 2-0 in Class 3A District 8. 

Lawrence County beat Powell County on the road last week behind a stout defense and steady offense. 

Senior Braxton Davis picked off two passes and returned one for a touchdown and would have had two if it wasn’t for a penalty. Andrew Ratcliff also picked off a pass. Cameron Castle had 10 tackles, Chandler Preece had 9 tackles, Carlo Chicko and Brennan Blankenship had a QB sack each. 

Luke Fetherolf was once again effective going 9 for 10 passing for 169 yards and 3 touchdowns. 

Six different Bulldogs caught passes led by Kaden Johnson with 2 catches for 49 yards, Eddie Chicko had 2 catches for 34 yards  and TD, Cameron Castle 2 catches for 32 yards, Carlo Chicko 1 catch, 25 yards and a TD, Gray Derifield 1 catch 17 yards and a TD, Andrew Ratcliff 1 catch for 12 yards. 

Freshman Darren Brewer was the leading rusher with 48 yards on 5 attempts, Mitchell Frazier 3 carries, for 36 yards and TD, Fetherolf carried twice for 8 yards, Kaden Johnson 1 carry for 4 yards and a TD, Devon Fluty and Braylen Stumbo both had 1 carry for 2 yards. 

The Engineers will travel to Louisa with a 4-3 record and 1-1 in Class 3A District 8. 

Estill County lost a shootout last week at home against Letcher Co. Central 48-32. 

QB Brody Mainous is the leading rusher with 612 yards and 10 touchdowns. He has also thrown for 1078 yards, 10 touchdown passes with 6 interceptions. 

Leading receiver is Hunter Bingham with 40 catches for 529 yards and 6 touchdowns, Hayden Manns has hauled in 23 passes for 296 yards and one touchdown.
