Louisa, Ky. — Lawrence Co. Softball ( 19-7 ) closed out the regular season with a 9-2 victory over Letcher Co. Central ( 18-13 ) on Thursday night.

Taylor Blevins went the distance to earn her 15th win of the season. She allowed five hits, one earned run and struck out five Cougars.

Aleaha Gillispie had two hits including a double, drove in a run and scored twice, Emalynn Kitts doubled and drove in two runs, Bree Jones singled, drove in two runs and scored three times, Ella Smith singled and scored two runs, Abby Maynard singled and scored a run, Addalyn Woods singled and scored a run, Leah Branham and Jada Patton had one RBI each.
The #1 seeded Dawgs will open up the 58th District tournament at 6:00 Monday versus #4 seed Betsy Layne ( 8-10 ) at Stonecrest Sports Park. LCHS swept the Bobcats 14-4 and 20-0 in the regular season.
#2 seed Floyd Central ( 15-10 ) will face #3 seed Prestonsburg ( 5-13 ) in the second game Monday at 8:00. The teams split two games in the regular season.
The Championship game is slated for Tuesday at 6:00.

“…It was great to get a game in versus Letcher Central after a couple more rainouts. We made adjustments and started hitting the ball better in the middle and late innings and that paid off for us.”
“… Taylor ( Blevins ) pitched well again and notched her 15th win of the season. We have had some sickness and injuries that hopefully we can get over before post season play begins. Fortunately we have some depth that helped with those issues but we need to be at full strength come district time next week at Stonecrest.”
