
Bridge Inspections Scheduled for KY 644 Walbridge in Lawrence County
Inspections start Thursday at 9AM
PIKEVILLE, Ky. (Sept. 02, 2025) –The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet advises the public that bridge inspections are scheduled for the KY 644 bridge at Walbridge (mile point 1.5) beginning Thursday, September 4.
Crews will begin inspections at 9:00 a.m. Thursday. To ensure the safety of the traveling public and inspection crews, the bridge will be closed to all traffic during the inspection process. Work is expected to continue through Friday, September 5, with the potential to finish early if weather and conditions permit.
Motorists should plan ahead and use alternate routes during this closure. Drivers are advised to allow extra travel time and expect delays.

Bridge Repairs Scheduled for KY 3 Fort Gay Bridge in Lawrence County
Work Starts on Monday, Sept. 15
PIKEVILLE, Ky. (Sept. 02, 2025) –The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet advises the public of upcoming bridge deck repairs on the Fort Gay Bridge (KY 3 at mile point 14.93, Louisa/Fort Gay area).
Beginning Monday, September 15 at 9:00 a.m., crews will repair a hole in the bridge deck. To complete this work safely, the T-intersection of the bridge will be closed for the week.
Traffic traveling between Fort Gay and Louisa on KY 3 will not be impacted. However, traffic attempting to turn onto KY 3 at the T-intersection on the bridge will not be permitted during the closure.
Motorists are advised to use KY 644 as a detour and should expect signage and variable message boards directing traffic along the alternate route.
The Cabinet reminds drivers to plan ahead and allow extra travel time during this period. Safety is our top priority, and we appreciate the public’s patience while these important repairs are made.
