Event 3: A Virtual Graduation Ceremony
Brief description:
After compiling pictures and videos, the Lawrence County High School production team will put together a virtual graduation ceremony that will follow the program of a traditional LCHS graduation ceremony. It will include introductions by Principal Moore, videos of guest speakers (including the Class President), music, and more. It will be a special tribute to the Lawrence County High School Senior Class of 2020.
How:
The LCHS Virtual Graduation will be broadcast on Monday, June 1 @ 7 PM.
NOTE: These are the plans as of Monday, May 4th. These may change as the requirements from Governor Beshear may change. IF THEY MUST CHANGE, you will get a phone call.
This is all a great effort by everyone involved, but nothing can replace the traditional graduation, the one that students have waited for for 12 long years, and the one that demonstrates the greatest turning point in their lives, but it is what it is. This is a perfect example for the students to experience life changes at a different level and before they even get to toss their caps which signify a new beginning in their young lives, but one that they should not have to experience but must. This is their graduation, and the chapter of their lives that they will remember for the rest of their lives, but instead of all the emotions and the comradery with their fellow classmates that would typically go into this chapter, it will be a somber chapter that will be difficult for them to grasp much less embrace, and there’s nothing that can be said or done that will take the sting out of this reality that has been thrust upon them through no fault of their own, but they are strong and should be very proud of their achievements that have brought them to this moment in time.
Like all students before them, nobody ever said that life was going to be easy, but for this class the struggles don’t begin after graduation or the morning after when they wake up to their new lives for the first time, but the graduation itself is the struggle as COVID 19 has taken away from them one of the most important times of their lives. At the end of the day it’s about the well being of each student and their families and friends, but it still doesn’t make it any easier. We can always say that there is always someone worse off than we, but that still doesn’t make their hearts any less broken.
God bless you Class Of 2020, and we all sincerely hope that this can still be one of the greatest moments of your life!
