Blevins who is now 3-3 on the season went all nine innings, allowed five hits and two earned runs, had six strikeouts and walked one as the Herd improved to 15-15 on the year and 4-6 in Sun Belt Conference action.
Marshall trailed 3-0 in the bottom of the sixth before Tyler Kamerer lined a shot into right centerfield with the bases loaded for a triple and scored on the play as the Golden Eagles misplayed the throw from the outfield to give the Thundering Herd the 4-3 lead.
After getting the lead Blevins went into shutdown mode and only allowed a single in the last three innings to closeout the victory.
Because of incoming weather the two teams played a doubleheader on Saturday with the Golden Eagles winning game one 4-3 to even the series at one game each.
In the final game of the series the Thundering Herd shutout Southern Miss 6-0 to win the series.
Marshall is now 16-16 on the season and 5-7 in conference play.
The Herd will return to action on Wednesday at Ohio University before returning to Sun Belt Conference play at Jack Cook field against Appalachian State on Friday at 6:00, Saturday at 5:00, and Sunday at 1:00.

“… I think we’ve got a chance to keep surprising a lot of people. We’ve done it a few times now this year, and I think we will continue to be more and more consistent. I’m really excited to see how the rest of this season plays out. Southern Miss was a huge series for us and we just proved what we already knew we could do.”
