FRANKFORT, Ky. (Sept. 14, 2016) – Gov. Matt Bevin and U.S. Rep. Hal Rogers will hold KentuckyWired: Statewide Broadband Network Progress Event on Friday, Sept. 16 at 10:30 a.m. in the State Capitol Rotunda.
KentuckyWired, administered through the Kentucky Communications network Authority (KCNA), will be a network of more than 3,000 miles of fiber optic cable for broadband.
This modern, high capacity fiber infrastructure, having over 1,000 sites, will provide broadband services to the Commonwealth’s agencies and its public postsecondary education institutions.
KCNA is partnering with local/regional internet service providers (ISPs) and utilities, which saves money, engages private businesses, and supports last mile services.
Local ISPs can tap into the network to provide last mile services to homes and businesses.
