December 18, 1947 — November 3, 2026

Betty Damron, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 3, 2026.
Born on December 18, 1947, in Mingo County, West Virginia, Betty was the cherished daughter of Wetzel and Hazel Ferguson. She was preceded in death by her loving parents, her dear sister Geri, and her precious grandson Jayson.
Betty is survived by her devoted son, Jay Ferguson, and his wife Diane, who were a constant source of joy and pride in her life. She is also lovingly remembered by her sister, Irene Ingold, and her niece and nephew, Vanessa and Ryan. Her legacy lives on through her four grandchildren—Tim, Shonnie, Damian, and Dave—and ten great-grandchildren, who brought her endless happiness. Betty leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will forever cherish her memory.
Betty was blessed to share her life with Bill Damron, the love of her life. Their marriage was a testament to enduring love and companionship, and she cherished every moment with him until his passing. Her warmth and compassion extended to everyone she met, and she was especially active within her church family. She loved having revival services at the Damron Cemetery Fellowship Hall, where she found comfort and community.
A woman of many passions, Betty adored her dog, Kiki, and had an unwavering affection for Elvis Presley and old westerns. She found great joy in goodwill shopping and never missed an opportunity to enjoy breakfast at her favorite local restaurant, indulging in her beloved Bavarian waffles. Betty loved the great outdoors, often spending time camping, enjoying bonfires, and cookouts. She was always ready for an adventure, whether it was a leisurely drive or a spontaneous outing. Above all, Betty’s life was centered around her family. Her son, Jay, was her pride and joy, and she never missed a chance to bring him a thoughtful trinket or check in with a phone call. Her unwavering love for her family was evident in all she did, and those who knew her understood that family was her greatest treasure.
Visitation will be Wednesday, November 11, 2026 at 11:00AM in the Young Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will begin at Noon, with burial to follow at Damron Cemetery. Friends and family are invited to gather in celebration of her remarkable life and the profound impact she had on everyone she met.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Betty’s name to a charity of your choice, reflecting her generous spirit and love for helping others. Betty’s legacy of love, kindness, and devotion will forever be etched in the hearts of those who had the honor of knowing her.
Young Funeral Home has been entrusted with the care of Mrs. Damron and her family.
