FRANKFORT, Ky. (Oct. 4, 2018) – Attorney General Andy Beshear and his Office of Special Prosecutions announced the 10-year conviction of a Boyd County man on two counts of first-degree sexual abuse.
Timothy Ray Sr., 63, of Catlettsburg, was convicted Sept. 27, on the abuse charges for crimes that occurred between 2014 and 2015 to minors. Ray will have his final sentencing hearing in Boyd Circuit Court at 9 a.m. Nov. 8.
This case was investigated by the Catlettsburg Police Department and is being prosecuted by Beshear’s Office of Special Prosecutions.
Beshear said his office is also prosecuting a pending indictment on Ray in Boyd Circuit Court with three additional victims, containing charges of first-degree sodomy and two counts of first-degree sexual abuse.
“Every day my office is working to protect Kentucky children from abuse by training parents, caregivers, child advocates and law enforcement on how to identify and report child sexual abuse and arresting and prosecuting child predators,” Beshear said. “I applaud the investigative work of the Catlettsburg Police Department and my office’s prosecutors for working together to seek justice for the victims in this case.”
As chair of the Kentucky Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation Prevention Board, Beshear works with Prevent Child Abuse Kentucky with funding from the Child Victims’ Trust Fund to help train parents, caregivers, advocates and law enforcement on how to make the internet safer for children and protect children from sexual abuse.

Over the last two and a half years, Beshear’s Cyber Crimes Unit has removed a record number of child predators from Kentucky communities.
