Baseball Dawgs Start Western Kentucky Spring Break Trip 1-1

Scottsville, Ky. — Playing their third straight extra inning game the LAWRENCE COUNTY Baseball Bulldogs fell 1-0 in eight innings to Allen County-Scottsville Tuesday evening.

2026 Bulldog Sophomores 

Gray Derifield, Grant Cochran, Ethan Queen, CJ Whitt 

ACS ( 6-1 ) scored a run in the bottom of the eighth inning to walk-off the Bulldogs. 

Gray Derifield was outstanding on the mound tossing seven innings of three hit baseball, allowed no runs, struck out eight. 

On offense Owen Pack doubled, Derifield, Eli Caudill and Grant Cochran all had singles for the Dawgs. 

Lawrence Co. 8 Barren Co. 7 ( Monday ) 

In the first game of the trip the Dawgs scored four runs in the seventh inning and one run in the eighth inning to beat the Trojans. 

Boedy Maynard picked up the win on the mound with seven innings of work, struck out four, allowed ten hits and three earned runs. Braxton Davis earned the save with one inning of scoreless relief. 

On offense Maynard had three hits and scored a run, Max Murriell had two hits, Davis doubled, drove in two and scored a run, Owen Pack doubled and had two runs batted in, Brady Caudill doubled, one RBI, Gray Derifield had one hit, walked three times and scored four runs, Braylen Stumbo scored a run. 

The Bulldogs ( 5-4 ) will finish out the Western Kentucky spring break trip with a game at Bowling Green ( 6-0 ) on Wednesday and at Franklin-Simpson ( 5-4 ) on Thursday

COACH’S COMMENTS

“… We are here playing this competition (4th region which typically one of the top regions in the state) to simply get better. 

We’ve faced some crazy situations already and we’ve won some of those and lost some of those situations.” 

“…We have a very young team and I believe this is going to be a really good experience long term for our program.”

“… Boedy Maynard threw the ball really well Monday night and Braxton Davis came in and slammed the door. Gray Derifield pitched like a stud tonight and Eli Caudill came in an impossible situation just like he did on Saturday and did an amazing job giving us a chance to win.”
