COACH’S COMMENTS
“… Tip your hat to Paintsville and to Jonah Porter he hasn’t thrown that much for then this year but he came out today and enticed us to swing at his pitches and not our pitches. He got them well into the seventh inning and we never could get much of anything going offensively. It’s no secret that we have struggled for most of the season but I thought when we got in May we had turned the corner a little bit. We cleaned a lot of things up and played much better of late. We were behind the eight ball to start the year and were below .500 for a big stretch but we dug and clawed our way out of that and won the 2A section tournament which is a big accomplishment. Honestly we were never consistent enough and that is on me as a coach and we will own that one. We have 270 odd days to figure it and we will do just that and make the necessary changes.”
“… Today is a product of last week and give Floyd Central credit for putting us in the spot to draw some one like Paintsville in the first round. They have several seniors and we had knocked them out the last two years and they were ready for us today. They wanted this opportunity and they took full advantage of it.”
“… To our four seniors it’s all love to Will Lafferty, Braydan Maynard, Ryan Marcum and Dylan Whitt all of them have been here a minimum of four years and some of them 6 to 7 years and all of them are quality young men and gave us a lot of their time and I do believe in all four of them and they will figure it in life and I’m proud that they were a part of our program.”
