Rep. Scott Sharp on floor of house

Convention Center funding added in Senate version of budget, Sharp credits Webb, local officials, and pledges to continue working through conference committees

Frankfort, Kentucky (March 13, 2024) – Representative Scott Sharp issued the following statement regarding the announcement earlier today that $25 million in funding for the Ashland Convention Center is included in a list of projects added by the Kentucky Senate to the version of the state budget they will consider. Local projects like this were not included in the House version of the state’s two-year spending plan, which provided the first step in the budget process.

“I’m incredibly pleased to see the convention center project added to the budget. Local officials have been working on this for quite some time and it will have an incredible impact on our community. I appreciate the work Senator Webb did on her end to get it included and we’ll continue to work together and with leadership to ensure the project remains in the bill through the rest of the budget process.”
