A Lawrence County Grand Jury met on October 10, 2024 and issued the following criminal indictments:

Indictments

Commonwealth of Kentucky vs. Sherry Hylton

The Grand Jury charges: that on or about May 23, 2024, in Lawrence County, Kentucky, and before the finding of the indictment herein, the above-named defendant:

1. Sherry Bowen Hylton acting alone or in complicity with Travis Hylton committed the offense of Burglary in the 3rd degree by knowingly and unlawfully entering and remaining in outbuilding(s) owned and operated by Mr. William Hammond, located on Highway 1690 in Lawrence County, KY with the intent to commit the crime of theft therein.

Commonwealth of Kentucky vs. Travis Hylton

The Grand Jury charges: that on or about May 23, 2024, in Lawrence County, Kentucky, and before the finding of the indictment herein, the above-named defendant:

1. Travis Hylton acting alone or in complicity with Sherry Hylton committed the offense of Burglary in the 3rd degree by knowingly and unlawfully entering and remaining in outbuilding(s) owned and operated by Mr. William Hammond, located on Highway 1690 in Lawrence County, KY with the intent to commit the crime of theft therein.

Commonwealth of Kentucky vs. Cody Maynard

The Grand Jury charges: that on or about August 23, 2024, in Lawrence County, Kentucky, and before the finding of the indictment herein, the above-named defendant:

1. Cody Maynard acting alone in complicity with Leslie Triplett committed the offense of Arson in the 3rd Degree by intentionally started a fire, in an attempt to burn a building owned by Stephanie Chaffin located on North Kentucky Route 3 in Lawrence County, Kentucky.

Commonwealth of Kentucky vs. Leslie Triplett

The Grand Jury charges: that on or about August 26, 2024, in Lawrence County, Kentucky, and before the finding of the indictment herein, the above-named defendant:

1. Leslie Triplett acting alone in complicity with Cody Maynard committed the offense of Arson in the 3rd Degree by intentionally started a fire, in an attempt to burn a building owned by Stephanie Chaffin located on North Kentucky Route 3 in Lawrence County, Kentucky.

Commonwealth of Kentucky vs. William Moore (aka Buddy Moore)

The Grand Jury charges: that on or about April 14, 2024, in Lawrence County, Kentucky, and before the finding of the indictment herein, the above-named defendant:

1. William Moore committed the offense of Trafficking in a Controlled Substance in the 1st Degree > 2 grams (Methamphetamine) by knowingly and unlawfully being in possession of Methamphetamine, digital scales containing chemical residue and assorted baggies, with the intent of trafficking in that controlled substance, or by Trafficking in Methamphetamine, namely approximately 35.992 grams of Methamphetamine, while in possession of a Taurus Brand 9. Mm handgun.

2. William Moore committed the offense of Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 1st Degree by knowingly and unlawfully being in possession of Oxycodone, a Schedule II Controlled Substance.

3. William Moore committed the offense of Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree by knowingly and unlawfully being in possession of four (4) dosage units of Gabapentin a schedule V Controlled Substance.

4. William Moore committed the offense of Fleeing/Evading in the 1st Degree by knowingly and unlawfully being in physical control of a motorized vehicle upon a Kentucky roadway and disregarding signals and commands to stop given by Sgt. Forrest Newsome with the Kentucky State Police Post 14 with the intent to flee, avoid or elude his arrest.

5. Willaim Moore committed the offense of Operating a Motor Vehicle under the Influence of Alcohol/Drugs, 1st Offense within 10 years by operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or other substances that impair a driver’s ability to operate that motor vehicle.

6. William Moore committed the offense of Fleeing/Evading in the 3rd Degree by knowingly and unlawfully disregarding signals and commands to stop given by Sgt. Forrest Newsome with the Kentucky State Police Post 14 while acting within their official capacity of the office and had reasonable suspicion that the defendant had committed a crime.

7. The above named defendant committed the offense of Possession of Marijuana by knowingly and unlawfully being in possession of Marijuana.

8. The above named defendant committed the offense of Reckless Driving by operating his motor vehicle in a reckless manner without regard for the safety and convenience of pedestrians or other vehicles upon the roadway.

9. The above named defendant committed the violation of Possession of Open Alcohol Beverage Container in Motor Vehicle by knowingly and unlawfully operating a motor vehicle upon a Kentucky roadway while in possession  of an open alcohol beverage container.

10. The above named defendant committed the offense of Failure to Wear Seatbelt by knowingly and unlawfully operating a motor vehicle without having a seatbelt on himself or any passengers in the motor vehicle properly adjusted and fastened.

11. The above named defendant committed the violation of Speeding 26 miles over the limit by knowingly and unlawfully operating a motor vehicle 26 mph or greater in a 55 miles per hour speed zone.

Commonwealth of Kentucky vs. Michael Hudnall

The Grand Jury charges: that on or about August 7, 2024, in Lawrence County, Kentucky, and before the finding of the indictment herein, the above-named defendant:

1. Michael Hudnall committed the offense of Distribution of Matter Portraying a Sexual Performance by a Minor Under the age of 12, 2nd Offense, by knowingly and having knowledge of its content and character, distributed, offered to distribute, or possessed with the intent to distribute, exhibit for profit or offer to distribute, matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor under the age of 12 with this defendant having previously been convicted if this offense in the Lawrence Circuit Court, Case No. 08-CR-00041.

2. Michael Hudnall committed the offense of Possession of Matter Portraying a Sexual Performance by a Minor Under the age of 12 by knowingly and having knowledge of its content, character and that the sexual performance is by a minor, he knowingly had in this possession or control or viewing 2 videos which visually depicted an actual sexual performance by minor persons under the age of 12.

3. Michael Hudnall committed the offense of Resisting Arrest by knowingly, intentionally, and unlawfully prevents or attempts to prevent peace officers, namely Trooper Hammond and other troopers from the KSP on scene, all of whom were acting under color of official authority from effecting his arrest by creating a substantial risk of causing physical injury to the officers or others.

Commonwealth of Kentucky vs. John Pauley

The Grand Jury charges: that on or about August 24, 2024, in Lawrence County, Kentucky, and before the finding of the indictment herein, the above-named defendant:

1. John Pauley committed the offense of Burglary in the 2nd degree by knowingly and unlawfully entering and remaining in a dwelling house owned by Mr. Larry Love, located on Joe Fork Road in Lawrence County, KY, with the intent to commit the crime of theft therein.

Commonwealth of Kentucky vs. Terry Block

The Grand Jury charges: that on or about May 9, 2024, in Lawrence County, Kentucky, and before the finding of the indictment herein, the above-named defendant:

1. Terry Block committed the offense of Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 1st Degree by knowingly and unlawfully being in possession of a Controlled Substance, Methamphetamine.

2. Terry Block committed the offense of Trafficking in a Controlled Substance within 1000 feet of a school by knowingly and unlawfully being in possession of Suboxone, with the intent to Traffic in that Suboxone, or by Trafficking in that Suboxone, within 1000 feet of West Elementary in Louisa, KY.

3. The above named defendant committed the offense of Possession of Marijuana by knowingly and unlawfully being in possession of Marijuana.

(Editor’s note: An indictment is not an indication of guilt but a determination by a grand jury that criminal charges warrant further judicial review.)
