Traffic Alert: US 23 Closed due to Collision at MP 5.5 Lawrence County

Crews estimate road closure to last several hours

LAWRENCE COUNTY, Ky. (Feb. 6, 2024) – US 23 at mile point 5.5 (0.5 miles North of KY 645) in Lawrence County is closed due to a tractor trailer collision blocking all lanes.

State Police are on the scene. No estimate on when the road will re-open at this time. Motorists must seek an alternate route.

Lawrence County DES Travis Hughes announced this morning that all lanes are shut down on US 23 near the intersection of Rt. 645 due to a traffic accident. The injuries and details of the accident are being investigated and Hughes says it will be “some time” before the road is opened in that area.

Again, all four lanes of US 23 are closed near the 645 intersection so please try to avoid the area.
