Due to a water outage in the city of Ashland, effectively at 10 a.m. all day and evening classes have been cancelled for the College Drive Campus.
The ACTC Roberts Drive Campus and Technology Drive Campus day and evening classes will meet as scheduled.

The admissions and advising offices will be closed at CDC, but will be open at the TDC campus for students who would like to go there for assistance.

Electrical tradesmen competition Aug. 31
Do you have the power to be the best electrician in the nation? Register for the regional IDEAL Championship and find out.
ACTC is a host site for the competition that is open to students, apprentices and professional electricians. The winner of the regional competition will be sent to Lake Buena Vista, Florida, all expenses paid, to compete in the IDEAL National Championship at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort for more than $500,000 in cash and prizes.
Professionals and students/apprentices can compete as individuals and as teams, with a limit of each person competing on one team only. If competing as a team, all team members must work for the same company or attend the same apprentice program or trade school. Each participant must be at least 18 years old.
The professional and student/apprentice with the fastest times in each IDEAL completion territory will advance and receive a 13-piece IDEAL tool kit. The top five fastest teams from the professional and student/apprentice division across the nation will also advance and receive the tool kit.
The national championship weekend is Nov. 10-11 and a total of 68 individual professionals and 68 individual students/apprentices will compete in up to four different rounds with top scores advancing to the next round. Seven teams from each division will compete in one final round.
Prizes will be awarded as follows: Individual Professionals: $75,000 for first place, $25,000 for second, $10,000 for third; Individual students/apprentices: $30,000 (plus $5,000 to their trade school) for first, $20,000 for second, $10,000 for third; professional teams: $60,000 for first place; students/apprentices: $30,000 (plus $5,000 to their trade school) for first.

Registration open for drone class
For those interested in becoming a commercial drone pilot, registration is now open for classes this fall.
Instructor Travis Snyder will prepare future drone pilots for the working world by covering in depth the CFR 14 Part 107 requirements by the Federal Aviation Administration to become a commercial remote pilot.
The course offers hands-on flight training with multiple systems so students will understand a variety of mission planning software, ground stations, and radio setups. Students can expect to gain the necessary knowledge needed to be a competent commercial pilot once completing the course.
Snyder is the chief pilot of Global Professional Drones Services and holds a pilot’s license for manned aircraft as well as commercial drones.
The course is available twice this fall and is a hybrid class with both online course work and hands-on drone flight. The first course is Aug. 28-Sept. 15 with flight day on Sept. 16. The second course is Sept. 18-Oct. 6 with flight day on Oct. 7. The fee is $299.

ACTC offering 12-week classes
ACTC is offering a 12-week term to help people who want to take classes this fall. The term starts Sept. 11 and Aug. 28 is the application deadline.
The 12-week classes have the same content as full semester classes, but cover the content in a shorter time.
Classes are art, biological sciences, English, history, humanities and interdisciplinary early childhood.
