Eastern, Ky. —  Lawrence Co. Senior Sophie Adkins became only the third Bulldog to score 2,000 career points in a 59-54 victory over Floyd Central Friday.

SOPHIE ADKINS

Adkins scored 20 points as the Dawgs remained perfect in 58th District action, Jada Patton added 13 points, Abby Maynard netted 10 points, Maddison Artrip tallied 5 points, Caroline See and Gracie Woods had 4 points each, Addison Bloomfield scored 2 points and Emalynn Kitts chipped in with 1 point.

Lawrence Co. hit 3 three pointers and went 11 of 16 from the foul line.

The Bulldogs ( 6-8 ) will travel to play Paintsville ( 6-9 ) on Tuesday at 6:00 and then to Prestonsburg ( 6-8 ) for a District matchup on Friday.

Kensley Feltner and Lexi Ratliff are the other two Lady Dawgs to score 2,000 career points.

Lawrence Co. Head Coach Melinda Feltner

COACH’S COMMENTS

“… Proud of our girls for how they responded last night in the second half when we didn’t play well in the first half. They competed and it felt great to be back in the win column.

“…Most importantly we are now 3-0 in District. Looking forward to building on this win and getting back at it this week. We have Paintsville on the road and also another district game with Prestonsburg on Friday night.”
