HAPPY MOTHERS DAY TO MY MOM, 2025

My mother was born August 14, of 1930 as Evelyn Francis Price, the daughter of a railroad clerk and his wife in Gate City, Va. Her mother died when she was only 2 years old and she was raised, to a large extent by my grandfather Clarence Price’s second wife, Hattie Ruth.  Evelyn Price excelled in everything she did including school where she was a basketball player and was named Valedictorian of her senior class and entered college the next year.

My mother was afflicted by the terrible disease of MS shortly after she had married her high school sweetheart, Jimmy Grayson and they vowed to win the battle and attended Carson-Newman College in Jefferson City, Tenn. until she was admitted to the Mayo Clinic where she was first diagnosed.

And they did, he had a wonderful career as a missionary-pastor in our area including Louisa First Baptist 1961-65 and she lived to the age of 63, teaching Sunday School, and leading young girls’ groups until she could no longer do so physically.

She was the sweetest, kindest and smartest person who ever lived, at least from my point of view. Happy Mothers Day in Heaven, Mother and I love you so much…
