While attending the finale show of ‘The Million Dollar Quartet’ on the 100th Anniversary of the Garden Theater in Louisa, Kentucky with my beautiful elderly mother who reminisced of her teenage years in the theater, we shared such fond memories… such an exciting time for me.
The story starts on a Tuesday shortly before Christmas 1956, 4-legends Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins and Elvis Presley gathered at the Sun Records recording studio in Memphis,Tennessee where they had launched their careers. A newspaper man who was there wrote this quartet ‘could sell a million’. Word soon leaked about the jam session and they were dubbed the ‘Million Dollar Quartet’.
Such a lively show for residents of Louisa and the surrounding areas. Kim Willard, left, Artistic Director for Mountain Movers Theater Company, warmed up the crowd and the cast left the crowd on their feet. Fun was had by All !!!
I would definitely recommend the Garden Theater shows, they are a lot of fun and the show is professionally done. A lot of local residents like me need to discover this place, it’s great!
The 100 year old renovated Garden Theater provides a nice atmosphere where you can enjoy the latest trending showstopper’s.
The next show by the Mountain Movers Theater Company will debut February 11, 2022 with “Little Women” a show that promises to bring back the stories in the best selling book…
Based on author Louisa May Alcott’s life, Little Women follows the adventures of sisters Jo, Meg, Beth, and Amy March who are keeping the homefires burning in Massachusetts with their beloved Marmee while their father is away at war. Jo, an aspiring author, tries to sell her stories to help her family but receives rejection after rejection from progressive New York publishers until a dear friend tells her to write what she knows. Begrudgingly taking this advice, Jo weaves the unforgettable story of her and her sisters coming of age during the American Civil War.
