Lorine Canterbury, 88, of Fort Gay, WV went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 10, 2021 at her home. Mommy’s beautiful spirit was finally welcomed into the hands of Jesus. She has been reunited with her loving husband and daughter.
Lorine was born October 27, 1932 in Sprigg, WV to the late Jim and Wealthy (Runyon) Evans. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Albert Canterbury; daughter Joyce Copley; brothers Her Hero Alex, Basel, Ira, and Alfred; and her sisters the twins Irene, Pauline, Hattie, Monavie, Virginia, Helen and Madge.
Lorine was a Christian and a member of the Sweet Home Church. She made a profession of faith as a young girl and enjoyed attending many churches in the area. In her free time, she loved to coon hunt with her husband. It was their special time together. Lorine was a wonderful cook and loved to can vegetables, make apple and coconut cream pies and just be in the kitchen. She took great joy in taking care of her family.
Survivors include her children Jesse (Helen Ruth) Canterbury, Pansy (Freddie) Bryant, Frank (Lora) Canterbury, Patricia Canterbury, and Polly (Bruce) Fields; special brother in law Elmo Canterbury; grandchildren Jessica Lynn, Albert, Waylon, Regina, Karis, Lucille, Freddie Joe, Luke, Corey, Carley, Nate, Randall, Bobbi, Missy, Michelle, Crystal, Amanda, Rodney, Rhonda, Kim, A.J., Chelsey, B.J., Makala, and Daniel; great grandchildren Elijah, Shiloh, Bella, Katie, Brayden, Jacob, Whitney, Jesse, Courtney, Jasiah, Hannah, Hunter, Paige, Chase, Ayden, Kenzie, Dalton, Caylee, Casey, Calvin, Brady, Charity, Isaac, Angel, Katie, Zoe, Chloe, Brittany, Gracie, Isabella, and twins Tyler and Skyler; and great grandchildren Jace, Kyrielynn, and Katie.
Funeral services for Mrs. Canterbury will be Friday, August 13, 2021 at 11:00 AM at the Sweet Home Church with Brother Jerry Patrick officiating. Burial will follow in the Canterbury Memorial Gardens.
Friends may visit the family on Wednesday, August 11, 2021 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Young Funeral Home Chapel and on Thursday, August 12, 2021 after 10:00 AM at the Sweet Home Church.
Young Funeral Home has been entrusted with the care of Mrs. Canterbury and her family.
God bless her heart. She was always such a nice person to my mother and us kids when we went to visit them. She will be missed. I’m sorry for your loss.
