We also want you to know that our investments in transmission infrastructure have consistently delivered real benefits to our customers across Kentucky and the region. A strong transmission grid not only enhances reliability but also ensures access to low-cost generation resources which ultimately supports our communities.
The claim that our rates are the highest in the Commonwealth is simply untrue. In fact, Kentucky Power customer rates are lower today than they were in 2022, the year referred to in the press release. For more than 100 years, we have served eastern Kentucky, and we take our responsibility to serve our customers and communities seriously.
We are committed to promoting economic development opportunities in our region recognizing that electric infrastructure is a vital component. Our dedication extends beyond energy; we actively support our communities through contributions and volunteer efforts funded by Kentucky Power which are not reflected in your rates.
In our ongoing discussions with regulators and state leaders, we listen, learn and collaborate on ideas to reduce rates through legislative efforts. We are also exploring ways to partner in the redevelopment of eastern Kentucky.
We remain committed to partnering with our government and regulatory stakeholders to discover effective solutions that lessen the impact of electricity costs and empower the future of eastern Kentucky.
Understanding the financial strain that high winter bills can cause particularly due to recent cold weather, we acknowledge the need to improve our communication regarding energy usage, weatherization and ways to improve efficiency. We are actively working on enhancing this information to better serve you.
If you need assistance, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. There are ways we can help.
Thank you for your continued trust in Kentucky Power.
