LADY DAWGS ONE WIN FROM RUPP ARENA AFTER POUNDING PIKEVILLE; Play Johnson Central Friday Night

Buckley’s Creek, Ky. — Jada Patton and Sophie Adkins combined for 57 points as Lawrence Co. beat Pikeville 65-40 in the Semifinals of the 15th Region Tournament Thursday at Pike Co. Central. 

LC freshman Jada Patton heads toward the basket for two of her 33 points in a win over Pikeville.

Jada Patton scored a career high 33 points to lead the Lady Dawgs, Sophie Adkins added 24 points, Maddison Artrip netted 5 points and Gracie Woods chipped in with 3 points. 

Sophie Adkins fights through two Pikeville defenders for a basket. 

Lawrence Co. ( 15-12 ) hit 5 three pointers and went 12 of 17 from the charity stripe. 

Pikeville ( 17-9 ) was led by Catherine Walters with 13 points, Kylie Alvin 12 points, Leighann Jackson 6 points, Nicole Lin 5 points, Izzy Mulkey and Sophie Woods had 2 points each. 

The Panthers hit 5 three pointers and went 3 of 4 from the free throw line. 

Maddison Artrip looks to set up the offense against Pikeville.

Lawrence Co. will play for a 15th Region Championship on Friday at 7:00 against Johnson Central ( 26-3 ) after the Golden Eagles beat Prestonsburg 62-36 in the second game Thursday night. 

Abby Maynard was a beast on the boards in a win over Pikeville Thursday.

“… Man did our girls compete tonight! I was so proud of them and how they executed our game plan. We wanted to get back to a regional championship and we’ve done that. But our goal has been all year to hang another banner. I’m so proud of the girls for giving us another opportunity to do that.. we’re excited to compete for another one Friday night.”
