New pizza coming to Cherryville on July 4th
Ma and Pa’s Pizza Place will be having their grand opening on July 4th.
Owners are Angie and Alan Messer of Louisa, Ky. I asked Angie what made her and Alan decide to open up a pizza place? She said there had been Lil’s Pizza for about 20 years and when she closed Larry started doing pizzas but became ill and had to close.
“All the old country stores out here on 1690 are closed and the community has nothing, and with no place to even get a pizza you have to drive all the way into town to get anything at all, Ms Messer said. “Alan was a coal miner as many were in this area and then he got laid off and we started talking about what we could do for potential retirement. Alan said we can use our savings and buy a dump truck and some machinery or start a pizza shop. I told him I couldn’t run machinery if something happened to him but I could run a pizza shop.”
“We just decided to go for it. We got the lumber delivered on May 31 and now we are ready to open.”
Our building is red with white trim and blue tin roof so July 4th seemed perfect for opening day. Of course, we could not have done it without our family and friends.
Ma and Pa’s has a variety of options from pizzas, salads, subs and will offer local delivery. Hours will be 2-10 pm. Phone number 606-673-3792, be sure to like and follow on Facebook under Ma and Pa’s Pizza Place.
Dine in option? Pick up only?? COVID restrictions?
Best of luck to them! Good to see a new restaurant starting up especially in Cherryville!
