Stanville, Ky. — Lawrence Co. ( 19-10 ) lost a heartbreaker 70-69 in overtime against Prestonsburg ( 13-13 ) on Tuesday at Betsy Layne in the semifinals of the 58th District tournament.

Kaden Johnson and Hayden Perry were named to the 58th All-District team. 

Gunnar Woods led the Dawgs with 22 points including 4 three pointers, Kaiden Harris hit 5 three pointers and finished with 20 points, Hayden Perry added 9 points, Kaden Johnson and Caden Muncy both had 6 points, Luke Fetherolf and Braxton Davis had 3 points each. 

Gunnar Woods and Kaiden Harris were named to the 58th All-District team. 

The Bulldogs hit 13 three pointers and went 10 of 20 from the free throw line. 

The Blackcats were led by Braxton Keathley with 33 points, Graham Shutts 17 points, Connor Napier 12 points, Blake Waller and Teagan Slone 3 points each, Cade Nairn 2 points. 

PBurg hit 2 three pointers and went 20 of 28 from the free throw line.

The Dawgs will be on the road at Johnson Central on Saturday with the winner moving on to the quarterfinals of the 15th region tournament Saturday March 8th at Pike Co. Central High School. 

Luke Fetherolf made the 58th All-District team.

COACH’S COMMENTS

“… Thankful to have another opportunity to play. Tough draw as a lot of really good teams are in the top bracket, but to win it all you have to play well no matter who you play so we are thankful for the opportunity to do that. We will have a good practice today, watch some film tomorrow morning, then lace them up and go to battle tomorrow evening!”
