The Fort Gay High School Alumni Association elected new officers for 2020 at a recent meeting. New officers include Gary Huff, Piqua, OH, president; Danny Sartin, Fort Gay, vice-president; Rhonda Compton, Prichard, treasurer; and Doris Staton, Proctorville, OH, secretary. All are FGHS alumni.
The FGHSAA was formed more than 20 years ago with the purpose giving something back by providing a 4-year Marshall University scholarship each year to a student from Tolsia High School. Each year a deserving student is chosen by the University as the scholarship recipient. Tolsia HS was chosen because it was formed when Crum and Fort Gay High Schools closed in 1987 and thus serves students from both the Fort Gay and Crum areas.
The FGHSAA board of directors sponsors a golf tournament each year at Eagle Ridge golf course in Louisa, KY, at the beginning of September as their main fundraising event. The association also holds an all-alumni dinner on the evening of the golf tournament. The association has a Facebook page which is enjoyed by many FGHS alumni.
