WAYNE COUNTY, W.Va. — A Ft. Gay woman is dead after a crash in Wayne County Monday.
The accident happened on Route 52 about 10 miles south of Fort Gay. Deputies say a woman and two children were in a vehicle that was hit by another car.
The victim has been identified as Tasha Justice, 29, of Ft. Gay. The name of a man driving the other car was not immediately released and his condition is not known although he was taken to a Huntington med center, a spokesperson for the Wayne County Sheriff’s Dept said.
A 911 caller reported the wreck around 11 a.m. Monday, WSAZ reported.
According to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, the two children were able to get out of the car, but the woman driving died. Investigators say the driver is the mom of one of the children.
Deputies say there were no witnesses to the accident but a WVSP accident restoration expert was sent to the scene.
Route 52 is now open.
So sorry for the loss of this wonderful soul. She was a wonderful woman, mother and daughter. Would do anything in the world for any child.
How many more people have to die on this road before the politicians in Chas, W.VA wake up and put up the bonds to finish this 4 lane project they started 25 years ago . How many school teachers, workers, and young people have to die before this highway is built. Not to mention the multi MILLON $ sections that set idol in middle of no where . How soon do the politicos in Chas, forget the billons in taxes and coal severance the miners produced in southern wva only to see there children killed on substandered highways .
Joe I couldn’t agree with you more. This is crazy. I remember when they first started this project in 1992. We was living in Ft Gay and all the talks was about this 4 lane and how much it was gonna help and so on and on…. that was 27 yrs ago and there has been so much money that has been “so far” wasted for small projects in Prichard and that area and then nothing else is done. Come on Charleston. There has been good men die with black lung, and old age, killed in mines for hundreds of dollars from their checks taken to fund a project that needs completed!!!!
You are right Joe. From the time Tolsia highway opened for traffic, many, many people have lost their lives on this stretch of highway. I have no idea what the number of fatalities might be, but I would say 40-50 people would be a conservative estimate. If someone knows the stats regarding fatalities please post it. It’s time for state officials to take action.
She was a wonderful woman who will be truly missed!! My kid’s was friends with her in sc and she was always there to help whoever she could!! Such a horrible loss for her family and friends!! My prayers go out to her mom and family especially her children who will never have her in their lives again. I know what her family is going through because i lost my son a year and half ago due to some careless driver. She will never be forgotten!!
