LOUISA, KY — Rotary held its regular weekly meeting on June 20, 2019. Rising President Elaine DeSario lead the meeting while president Steve Lycans was out of town. Elaine started the meeting by celebrating birthdays, anniversary’s and the brag jar. This was started recently for Rotarians who have something to be thankful for and announce it to everyone while adding a $1.00 to the brag jar.
The new KY Driver License will not be ready as scheduled for June 27, 2019. Instead Louisville will be the first to start issuing the new Driver License on the 27th, then they will go 2 counties at a time to start the program hopefully getting to Lawrence County sometime in the fall. Everyone must have the new ID by October 1, 2019. To receive the new ID you must fill out specific documents then they are scanned then sent for review and you will be mailed an ID to finish setting up you ID.
The Thursday July 4th meeting will be moved to Wednesday July 3rd in celebration recognition of Independence Day.; the Main Street parade will start at 11am and go through the city. Music will start at 1:00pm free to the public and fireworks at 10:00pm.
Mr. Ritt Mortimer was the guest speaker this week, he is the owner of 3 media outlets. Your News Today, Salyersville Independent and newly acquired Big Sandy Media News. He went over how he started the businesses to the plans on how he intends to run them.
Next, Mark Your Calendars for the Rotary Radio Auction will be held at the Lawrence County Extension Office on August 6th – 8th. They will put pictures of the items for sale online close to two weeks before the auction.
Next week June 27th the upcoming guest speaker will be Coroner Wes Kingsmore.
The new drivers licenses will not be required until OCTOBER 2020 not Oct 2019. Wes Kingsmore is the Tourism Director not the Coroner and the regular Rotary meeting will not be held on July 3rd. That is the officers meeting. The regular meeting for the 4th is just cancelled for that week.
