MUSIC IN THE PARK EVENT FOR LOUISA KICKS OFF IN MAY
The Lawrence County Tourism Board and the City of Louisa have teamed up to create a new event that will happen on every THIRD THURSDAY of the month in downtown Louisa.
The “MUSIC IN THE PARK” event will be held at the Main Street Park and feature local bands and musicians as part of the attraction. The Tourism committee hopes to bring in food vendors and attractions for the family. “We want to have events downtown where families can come and relax and have a good time and it not cost a fortune!” stated Wes Kingsmore, the new Director of the Tourism Board. Kingsmore continued “We think that this event will grow in popularity and people will make sure to mark the THIRD THURSDAY on their calendars!”
The first event is scheduled for Thursday, May 16th. The featured musicians are none other than the Laid Back Country Picker and Luna and the Jets. These musicians have been local favorites for years but have recently become favorites throughout the state and have even been seen on the Grand Ole Opry stage! Hillbilly Hibachi and Kona Ice will be on site to provide food and “dessert” for those wishing to purchase food at the event.
The Lawrence County/Louisa Trail Town Committee is also sponsoring a table decorating contest for the event. Cathi Kise Wells stated that the committee invites families, churches, businesses, friends, etc. to bring their own tables and chairs and decorate them for their dinner at the park! The theme for the table decorating contest will be “SPRINGTIME ON THE LEVISA” and the winning table will receive a $25 gift card courtesy of the Trail Town Committee. You can bring your own food or purchase from Hillbilly Hibachi!
The Music in the Park Event will begin with food and table decorating contest at 6 pm and music to begin at 7 pm. Everyone is invited to come and hear some great music and “Rediscover Louisa”!
