Over the past nine years Thompson has served Boyd County Schools as director of middle school basketball/head coach, junior varsity head basketball coach, director of the Boyd County Youth Basketball League, varsity head assistant basketball coach and special education teacher.
Throughout his last five years at Boyd County High School, Thompson helped to lead Boyd County to five district championships, one regional championship, two region runner-ups, and five 20-win seasons.
Chandler is married to Hillary and they have one daughter Laney.
Lawrence County High School Athletic Director Travis Feltner spoke of Thompson’s selection and how he will positively shape the boys basketball program.
“We are extremely blessed and honored to welcome Coach Thompson to our family, school, and community to serve in the capacity of head basketball coach at Lawrence County High School.”
“This was not an easy process, nor one that was taken lightly as we had several highly qualified applicants. With that being said, we feel that Chandler was the best fit for our program to continue to build upon the solid foundation we have with our men’s basketball program.”

I hope that I am blessed with the opportunity to spend the rest of my teaching and coaching career right here at Lawrence County as a Bulldog!”
“…The last 14 years that I’ve spent with Coach Anderson have been the best years of my life. I would not be the man I am today without him.”
