KSP INVESTIGATE OFFICER INVOLVED SHOOTING
Grayson, Kentucky – (March 2, 2019) The Kentucky State Police (KSP) Critical Incident Response Team are investigating an officer involved shooting after a domestic disturbance in Carter County.
The preliminary investigation indicates that on Friday, March 1, 2019, at approximately 11:23 P.M. EST, KSP Post 14 was notified by Carter County 911 that a physical altercation had occurred on Damron Mayo Road, involving a female suspect and a family member. Troopers responded but were unable to locate the accused, as she had fled the scene on foot prior to their arrival. At approximately 01:38 A.M., Troopers learned that the woman was back at the residence, and was possibly carrying a firearm. As Troopers re-approached the home, the suspect confronted them, which resulted in law enforcement firing shots. The female subject was pronounced deceased on location, due to injuries she sustained as a consequence of the shooting.
Neither the suspect’s nor the involved Troopers’ names are being released at this time.
The investigation is ongoing by members of the Kentucky State Police Critical Incident Response Team. KSP will continue to update the public as more information becomes available.
