SHOTS NEARLY MISSED SMALL CHILD DURING CASE OF ‘ROAD RAGE’

A Johnson County man was arrested Sunday night January 6 after police said that he shot at a car during an incident of road rage.
According to Martin County Sheriff John H. Kirk, the incident started as a vehicle chase in Johnson County shortly after 7 P.M., and that the suspect then fired at the car in Lawrence County, and then when the shooting suspect then fled AGAIN, the occupants of the car began chasing after the man into Martin County.
The shooting suspect who was caught and arrested was identified as Billy York, who is 63 years old, and is from Paintsville, KY..
Sheriff Kirk stated the vehicle that was allegedly shot at into by Billy York was carrying four people, including a small child, and that one of the bullets hit just around 30 inches away from the 5 year old passenger.
Sheriff Kirk said the occupants in the automobile that was hit by the gunfire then followed Billy York as he fled in his vehicle all the way to Martin County and that one of the passengers was giving information to 911 dispatchers during the pursuit. Kirk also said that at one point the chase exceeded over 100 miles per hour.
Eventually, Sheriff Kirk said that he finally intercepted Billy York in the Grassy community of Martin County and took him into custody.
Sheriff Kirk said spent round casings were found inside Billy York’s vehicle along with a concealed deadly weapon and a rifle on the passenger side.
Sheriff Kirk said Billy York is being charged with 4 counts of 1ST DEGREE WANTON ENDANGERMENT and CARRY A CONCEALED WEAPON.
Billy York was taken to the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center in Paintsville at just after 9 P.M. Sunday night.
This is not the first incident involving an anger issue with Billy York. During this past Halloween October 31, 2018, in the pre-dawn hours, Billy York was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of MENACING by a deputy of the Johnson county Sheriff Department.
