Kenneth E. Sturgill, 80, of Fort Gay, WV went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 17, 2024.
Kenneth was born December 25, 1943 in Squire, WV to the late Andrew and Francis (Rose) Sturgill. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Leslie Sturgill and Carroll Sturgill.
Kenneth was inducted in to the Fort Gay High School Alumni Association Sports Hall of Fame in 2022. He was an excellent athlete, but chose to go to work on the railroad, where he stayed until he retired.
Survivors include his wife Sharon Sturgill; children Raenell Sturgill Chaffin (Troy), Kenneth Lee Sturgill, Anna Lynn Sturgill Stevens, Steven Derek McCormick, and Stephanie Curry; grandchildren Mickey Sturgill, Chris Stevens, Natasha Ramey, Emily Johnson, Kendra Curry, Mallory Curry, and Tiffany Curry; great grandchildren Hailey, Gabriella, Austin, Stetson, Colby and Mikenna; brothers Charles Sturgill (Jean) and Ron Sturgill (Rhonda); and sisters Judy Bellomy, Barbara Kitchen (Bill), and Jackie Holbrook (Greg).
Funeral services will be conducted Monday, September 23, 2024 at 1:00 PM in the Young Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Tim Preston officiating. Burial will follow in the Batram – Fort Gay Cemetery.
Friends may visit the family Monday, September 23, 2024 from 11:00 AM until time of service in the Young Funeral Home Chapel.
