The Louisa City Council had a Special Meeting on Tuesday September 17, 2024 at 6PM at Louisa City Hall, 215 N. Main Cross Street, Louisa, Kentucky 41230. Mayor of Louisa Harold Slone was in attendance along with City Council Members Joey McClanahan, Gary Robertson, Caleb Farley, Rose Lester, Coty Roe and Keith Chaffin.
SET TRICK OR TREAT DATE
The Louisa City Council set Halloween Day for Trick or Treat. It will be on Thursday October 31, 2024 from 5:30 – 7:30. Motion by Gary Robertson 2nd by Rose Lester.
APPROVE MINUTES
The Minutes for August 13, 2024 were approved unanimously with a Motion by Coty Roe 2nd by Joey McClanahan. The Minutes for Special Meeting on August 29, 2024 were passed unanimously with a Motion by Keith Chaffin 2nd by Coty Roe.
APPROVE SECOND READING PROPERTY TAX ORDINANCE 2024-05
The City Council unanimously passed the Second Reading Property Tax Ordinance 2024-05 with a Motion by Joey McClanahan 2nd by Coty Roe. All in favor. The tax rate passed was for .238 the same as last year.
APPROVE SECOND READING AMENDMENT FOR TOURISM ORDINANCE 2000-2A
The Second Reading Amendment for Tourism Ordinance 2000-2A was passed unanimously with a Motion by Keith Chaffin 2nd by Coty Roe. The only thing that changes, is the Ordinance Number.
MOU AGREEMENT LAW. CO. BOARD OF EDUCATION 2024 FIRE SCIENCE
City Council approved the MOU Agreement unanimously with a Motion by Joey McClanahan 2nd by Coty Roe. This agreement is between the City of Louisa and Law. Co. Board of Ed. This only thing to change on these fire classes is the price for a class which is $10,000. There will be two Fire Science classes costing $20,000 for the year 2024.
OPEN BID ASPHALT
The City Council voted to accept two bids for asphalt. Mountain Enterprises will cost $149.50 and includes milling. Blacktop Industries will cost $155.25 and does not include milling. Motion by Coty Roe 2nd by Keith Chaffin. All in favor. Mayor Slone will check the numbers on the asphalt and let City Council know the numbers at next month’s meeting.
AUGUST BUDGET REPORT
The Council discussed the August Budget Report. There will be one correction to the report to remove a number. No changes were made except for the correction. Next month Mayor Slone will have monthly reports on the budget.
