LC TOURISM DONATES TO SEPTEMBERFEST…

The Lawrence County Tourism Commission met on Monday, August 19, 2024 at
5:30PM in the Fred M. Vinson Museum, 315 E. Madison Street, Downtown 2nd Floor, Louisa, Kentucky, 41230. LC Tourism Commissioner Wes Kingsmore was in attendance along with the Board Members Susie Chambers, Brenda Hardwick, Chris Jobe, Thomas Bradley and Christy Moore.

REPORT ON FALLSBURG FESTIVAL
Chris Jobe discussed the Fallsburg Festival held on Saturday August 3, 2024. This was a great event held in Fallsburg from 9AM to 9PM and had a good turnout.

JULY 2024 MINUTES
The Tourism Commission passed the July 2024 Minutes unanimously. Motion by Chris Jobe and Brenda Hardwick.

JULY 2024 FINANCIAL REPORT
LC Tourism voted unanimously for the July 2024 Financial Report. Motion by Susie Chambers 2nd by Thomas Bradley.

ANNOUNCEMENTS
The LC Tourism Commission announced and discussed the Big Sandy Film Festival will be at the Garden Theater on Saturday August 24, 2024. It is a Morehead State Univ. program which will include videos made in or about eastern Kentucky in particular. (See story in Lazer)

Murder/Mystery dinner theater at the Fred August 30-31

BASS CLUB DONATION TO SEPTEMBERFEST
LC Tourism agreed unanimously to donate $1250 to the Bass Club this year for the Septemberfest Tourney.

TOURISM DONATION TO SEPTEMBERFEST
Tourism agreed to donate $8,000 to SEPTEMBERFEST. Motion by Susie Chambers 2nd by Chris Jobe. All in favor.

DONATION TO LC SADDLE CLUB
Tourism decided to donate up to $600 to the LC Saddle Club. Motion by Thomas Bradley 2nd by Chris Jobe.

NEW CONSULTANT FOR LC TOURISM
LC Tourism has hired Johnna Barker, Consultant for Kentucky Tourism Services, to help with Budget, Help get matching funds on grants acquired and help with Tourism brochures. Motion by Susie Chambers 2nd by Brenda Hardwick. All in favor. Salary for Ms. Barker was not discussed.

Lawrence County Tourism Meeting, July 15, 2024

The Lawrence County Tourism Commission met on Monday, July 15th, 2024 at 5:30pm at the Fred Vinson Tourism Office. Members in attendance were Chairman Wes Kingsmore, Tom Bradley, Chris Jobe, Brenda Hardwick, Debbie Hill and Susie Chambers. Janie Marcum was there representing the entertainment committee. Susan Salyer was also in attendance from the Levisa Lazer.

The meeting was called to order by Wes and Chris gave the opening prayer. The June 17th minutes were read and approved with a motion by Brenda and a second by Tom. All in favor. The financial report was presented showing a balance of $5,441.40. Susie made a motion to accept the report with a second by Debbie. All in favor.

Under new business it was announced that the LC Fair will be held on July 26-27 at the LC Fairgrounds. Everyone is invited to attend. We also discussed the Fallsourg Festival to be held on August 3rd. There will be a car show, inflatables, com hole, demonstrations, and craft vendors in the community center. The festival will run from 9 am to 9 pm. We will support this event by helping with the sound system. We voted to provide up to 5500 for the sound with a motion by Susie and a second by Brenda, All in favor. The city will be purchasing some new Christmas light displays this year. If our budget allows, we allocated for up to $3,000 for this with a motion by Chris and a second by Susie. All in favor.

With no further business to come before the board Debbie made a motion to aojjour with a second by Susie. All in favor.

Our next monthly meetings will be on Monday, August 19, 2024 at 5:30 pm at the Fred Vinson Tourism Office.
