THE INMATE POPULATION COUNT WENT THROUGH THE ROOF AGAIN AT THE BIG SANDY REGIONAL DETENTION CENTER IN PAINTSVILLE, HITTING A NEW RECORD, GOING UP TO NEARLY 320 INMATES BEING INCARCERATED AT THE JAIL OVER THIS PAST WEEKEND, IN A FACILITY THAT WAS BUILT WITH A DESIGNATED MAXIMUM CAPACITY OF HOLDING 225 INMATES. AS OF WEDNESDAY MORNING, OCTOBER 17, AT 12:00 A.M., THAT NUMBER WAS SITTING AT EXACTLY 300.
THE JAIL HAS BEEN RECEIVING OVER 110 PRISONERS PER WEEK SO FAR THIS MONTH. IF THE RATE HOLDS THRU THE REST OF THE MONTH, THE JAIL COULD OVER 450 INMATES BEING BOOKED AND LODGED, WHEN IN 2016, THE AVERAGE MONTHLY RATE WAS 310 TO 360 INMATES BEING TAKEN TO THE BSRDC.
IN THE PAST SEVEN DAYS FROM 12:01 A.M. OCTOBER 11 THRU 11:59 P.M. OCTOBER 17; OUT OF THE AT LEAST 112 INMATES BOOKED AT THE BIG SANDY REGIONAL DETENTION CENTER IN PAINTSVILLE, 15 OF THEM WERE FROM LAWRENCE COUNTY. PLUS ANOTHER SIX LAWRENCE COUNTY RESIDENTS WERE ARRESTED IN VARIOUS COUNTIES ( ONE IN JOHNSON COUNTY, ONE IN BOYD COUNTY, THREE IN MARTIN COUNTY, AND ONE IN CARTER COUNTY) .
THAT IS COMPARED TO THE PREVIOUS SEVEN DAY PERIOD FROM 12:01 A.M. OCTOBER 4 THRU 11:59 P.M. OCTOBER 10; OUT OF THE AT LEAST 113 INMATES BOOKED AT THE BIG SANDY REGIONAL DETENTION CENTER IN PAINTSVILLE, 13 OF THEM WERE FROM LAWRENCE COUNTY. PLUS ANOTHER SEVEN LAWRENCE COUNTY RESIDENTS WERE ARRESTED IN VARIOUS COUNTIES ( FOUR IN JOHNSON COUNTY, ONE IN BOYD COUNTY, ONE IN MARTIN COUNTY, AND ONE IN LOGAN COUNTY, KENTUCKY).
