Huntington, W. Va. — Louisa native and Marshall University star pitcher Bryce Blevins made first team all Sun Belt Conference for 2024.

Blevins, a sophomore at MU, made 15 appearances including 11 starts and went 3-5 this season. He sported a 3.45 ERA, struck out 71 in 86 innings of work on the mound.

Blevins was named pitcher of the week four times during the regular season for the Thundering Herd.

The lefty had a pair of 10 strikeout games with 10 at then No. 19 Louisiana on April 13, and a career-high 11 against Georgia State on May 4 as he allowed three or fewer earned runs in 12 of his 15 appearances.

PLAYER’S COMMENTS

“… This season overall was truly a good one. I know that if you look at our record and see our wins and losses that you may think I’m crazy for saying it was a good one, but there were many positives in the 2024 season. From opening up Jack Cook Field, to beating WVU at home, then getting to pitch in front of some of the best fans that were behind me every pitch I threw this year. There were many highs and many lows, but the one thing that I can say is that Marshall Baseball is very close to being at the top in the Sun Belt Conference. This season was special but there is much more work to be done and I can’t wait to get back out there in front of everyone next spring.”

“… Receiving the award of being First Team All Conference was truly something to be thankful for. After back to back injuries and a rough freshman year, all the work that was put in all year truly paid off by receiving this award. I am thankful and blessed and cannot wait to do even more next year.”

“… Being able to play at Jack Cook this year made a huge difference for us. Just being able to walk into your own locker room everyday and be able to relax before the game at the field is a major convenience. The fans, oh man, the fans just have a huge impact on the game for us. Being out there on the mound getting to look around knowing that everyone there is behind you and supporting you and your team every pitch and every swing. I can’t wait to get back in front of everyone next year! There’s nothing like playing at Jack Cook!”

“… My plan for this summer is to get ready for my junior season. To get my body in the best shape possible along with getting stronger. Doing these things will allow myself to compete at an ever higher level next year.”
