Grand Re-Opening Scheduled for April 9
LOUISA, Kentucky (April 4, 2016) — On April 1, 2016 local couple, Dennis and Patricia Hatfield of Louisa, assumed ownership of Simple Treasures, a small antique and craft business located on Madison Street.
In March, the previous owners announced that the shop would be closing at the end of the month. Both Patricia and Dennis, lovers of antiques and avid supporters of local business, were disheartened by the news and became determined to contribute to the small town’s economy.
“Many of our vacations have centered around antiquing and history,” Dennis said. “This shop will give us an opportunity to combine our personal interests with our commitment to building the economy of Louisa and Lawrence County. It’s something that we feel called to do.”
Patricia opened a small booth in the vendor-based shop earlier this year, which led to the couple’s acquisition of the business. “I really enjoyed the creativity of designing a booth and am excited about furthering that through the shop.”
They have spent the last week working in the shop to ensure they are familiar with the products and to facilitate a seamless transition for both vendors and customers. Not only are they dedicated to growing the business, but to helping Louisa flourish as well.
“We’ve seen so many great businesses open, only to close their doors after a few years, or even months. We’d love to see Louisa become a destination for tourism and we are looking forward to contributing to that effort,” added Dennis. “Appalachia has so much to offer, such a rich heritage, and we want to help showcase that through our shop by working with local artisans and crafters.”
A grand re-opening has been scheduled for Saturday, April 9, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The open house event will allow customers an opportunity to meet the Hatfields, shop, and enjoy refreshments while viewing the offerings of the current vendors’ booths. All in attendance will be eligible to enter the drawing for a door prize. The shop will also be open on Tuesday, April 5 through Friday April 8 as part of a soft opening.
