Louisa, Ky. — Lawrence County opened up District play with a 42-13 Homecoming victory over Letcher County Central at Luke Varney Jr. Memorial Stadium Friday.

The Bulldogs jumped out to a 13-0 lead behind a Kaden Johnson 70-yard touchdown run and Issac Febish added the extra point followed by a Cameron Castle fumble recovery touchdown.
Letcher Co. Central made it 13-7 on a Cooper Bates to Mason Stephens 20-yard touchdown pass and extra point by Jackson Childers.
Gray Derifield returned the ensuing kickoff 75 yards for a touchdown and Johnson added the two-point conversion for a 21-7 Bulldog lead.
#11 Darren Brewer cruised in from 35 yards out and Febish booted the PAT to make it 28-7 Dawgs late in the first quarter.
Johnson added his second touchdown of the contest this time from 26 yards out to make it 34-7 Bulldogs.
Johnson got the hat trick when he took a screen pass from Mikey Artrip 67 yards for a touchdown and then added the two-point conversion to make it 42-7 Bulldogs at halftime.
The Cougars made it 42-13 halfway through the third quarter on a Bates one-yard touchdown run.
The Dawgs moved to 3-1 on the year will step back out of district play next Friday with a trip to Maysville to face the 4-1 Mason County Royals.
Letcher Co. Central ( 3-3 ) will host district foe Estill County ( 5-1 ) next Friday.
