KY POWER CEO SAYS DATA CENTERS WILL BENEFIT REGULAR CUSTOMERS, TOO

Today, Kentucky Power signed the White House Ratepayer Protection Pledge, reinforcing a commitment we have consistently made to our customers: growth should pay for growth, and existing customers should not bear the costs of serving new large energy users.

As interest in eastern Kentucky continues to grow, we know customers have questions about what new economic development could mean for their electric bills. Let me be clear: protecting our customers remains our highest priority.

When large industrial customers—including data centers—seek to locate in our service territory, they are responsible for paying the costs necessary to serve their electric needs. Our responsibility is to ensure that residential and business customers are protected while we continue investing in a safe, reliable electric system.

Economic development creates opportunities for Eastern Kentucky. New businesses can bring jobs, investment and long-term growth to the communities we proudly serve. When planned responsibly, that growth also supports continued investment in the electric grid, helping strengthen reliability and modernize the system that serves all customers.
