Four Baseball Bulldogs garner 15th Region recognition

Louisa, Ky. — Four Lawrence County Bulldog baseball players were named to the KHSBCA All 15th Region Baseball team. 

Senior Braxton Davis  went 4-7 with 1 save with a 3.06 ERA, over 52 innings, 36 strikeouts, allowed 42 hits, 19 walks and 30 earned runs on the mound during his senior campaign.

At the plate Davis hit .242 with 22 hits, 20 runs scored, 5 doubles and drove in 10 runs and walked 18 times. 

Davis also made the All 58th District team. 

Parent’s Martin and Nicole Davis.

Senior Boedy Maynard went 5-3 with one save while posting a 3.18 ERA with 42 strikeouts in 50 and 2/3 innings of work, allowed 23 earned runs and walked 11 batters. 

At the plate Maynard hit .301 with 2 home runs, had 28 hits, scored 21 runs, smacked 8 doubles, drove in 24 runs and walked 21 times.

Maynard was also named to the All 58th District team. 

Sophomore Gray Derifield was also voted an East/West All-Star after hitting for a team high .336 batting average, scored a team high 36 runs, team leading 36 hits, drove in 15 runs, 4 doubles, walked 19 times and lead the team with 34 stolen bases in 37 attempts. 

On the mound Derifield was 2-3 with 1 save, posted a 1.97 ERA in 42 and 2/3 innings, allowed 12 earned runs, struck out a team high 53 batters and walked 14. 

Derifield was also named the 58th District player of the year. 

Parent’s Brad and Angel 

Sophomore Grant Cochran posted a 5-1 record with one save in 51 and 2/3 innings of work, had a 1.90 ERA, allowed 45 hits, 14 earned runs, struck out 36 and walked 13 batters. 

At the plate Cochran had a .267 batting average with 27 hits, scored 19 runs, drove in 24 runs, 5 doubles, 1 triple and walked 6 times. 

Cochran also made the All 58th District team. 

Parent’s Josh and Selena 

These four Bulldogs helped the team to a 18-16 record, a 58th District runner-up and semifinal appearance in the 15th Region Tournament.
