Speaker Annie Whelan and Rotary President Chris Jobe

Annie Whelan presented a wonderful program to the Louisa Rotary Club on April 16th. Annie is both a dedicated endurance equestrian and an avid world traveling backpacker. After graduating from the University of Kentucky in 2023, she chose an unconventional path in life, which has been an exciting experience.

Her travels so far have taken her to many countries in Europe, Southeast Asia and recently to Central America. As an endurance rider she has competed in the Tevis Cup, the hardest ride in the U.S. She has also competed in a 150 mile ride in Iceland, saying it was one of her favorites.

Her backpacking trips included staying with friends and navigating on her own, spending nights in hostels, a popular choice globally. She said that meeting people and learning about the cultures and history of other countries make her travels unforgettable and amazing.
