LOUISA CANDIDATE REGISTERS AS WRITE IN FOR CORONER

LOUISA, Ky. — Marcus Bowen is adding an interesting wrinkle for the May 19, 2026 GOP Primary election in Lawrence County, Ky. He’s challenging for the Coroner’s job here as a write-in candidate.

After Jimmy Castle announced he is quitting the race because of health issues last week, Bowen began thinking of the write-in idea which left Sam Michael Muncy as the lone GOP candidate.

A write-in candidate must register at the clerk’s office and will be eligible to collect write-in votes. Very few candidates win in Kentucky elections so this may be a first.

Coroner is an important position but there are no training or education requirements, a nagging problem from the state government.
