Congratulations to Recruit Patrolman Ethan Smith on his graduation from DOCJT Basic Law Enforcement Academy. We are excited to see all the great things he will do in his career. Upon returning home Ptl. Smith will finish up his field training program under the guidance of experienced officers before being on his own.

He was hired in May of 2025 and is a 2023 Graduate of LCHS and a former member of Louisa Police Explorer program.

The Department of Criminal Justice Training (DOCJT) Law Enforcement Basic Training Academy is a rigorous 20-week, 800+ hour, state-mandated program in Richmond, Kentucky, for new police officers. It prepares recruits through comprehensive, hands-on training in patrol, firearms, legal procedures, and physical fitness to serve city, county, and state agencies.
