KENTUCKY SUSPECT ATTEMPTED TO LURE UNDERAGE TEENAGER FROM INDIANA TO MEET UP TO HAVE SEX

ALLEGED WANTON CHILD SEX CREEP: CHRISTOPHER SCOTT BARNES, 51, OF GLENDALE, KENTUCKY; ARRESTED BY KSP CRIME UNIT.

A Hardin County, Kentucky man was arrested by state police after he was discovered to have been attempted to set up a meeting for the purpose of have sex with a 14 year old from Indiana

 

On Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at approximately 09:56 A.M., the Kentucky State Police Electronic Crime Branch arrested Christopher Scott Barnes, 51, of Glendale, Kentucky; on charges related to child sexual abuse material.Mr. Barnes was arrested as the result of an undercover Internet Crimes Against Children investigation. Santa Claus Police Department in Santa Claus, Indiana began the investigation after discovering the suspect procuring a minor online. The suspect was later identified to be a Kentucky resident and the investigation was transferred to Kentucky State Police Electronic Crime Branch.

The investigation resulted in a search warrant at a residence in Glendale on February 10, 2026. Equipment used to facilitate the crime was seized and taken to the Kentucky State Police forensic laboratory for examination. The investigation is ongoing.

Chritopher Barnes is currently charged with one count of:

*FUGITIVE FROM ANOTHER STATE – WARRANT REQUIRED; three counts of:

*PROCUREMENT OR PROMOTION USE OF MINOR BY ELECTRONIC MEANS,  (Class-C felonies punishable by five to ten years in prison); and three counts of:

*INDECENT EXPOSURE, 1ST DEGREE, 1ST OFFENSE, (Class-B misdemeanors punishable up to ninety days in jail). Chrsitopher Barnes was transported to and lodged in the Hardin County Detention Center in Elizabethtown, KY., where his bond is set at $50,000 full cash only. He has two court dates set on his criminal charges; the first court date, in the Hardin County District Division Court on February 12,at 1:15 P.M., involving the fugitive warrant charge;  while other court on the sex charges, is scheduled for Hardin County District Division Court on February 20, at 1:15 P.M.

The mission of the ICAC Task Force, created by the United States Department of Justice and administrated by the Kentucky State Police, is to assist state and local law enforcement agencies in developing a response to cyber enticement and child sexual abuse material investigations.
