Fort Gay Boys and Girls pick up wins in the E&A Hoop Dreams Classic

Williamson, W. V. — Fort Gay Middle Boys and Girls basketball both picked up wins in the E&A Hoop Dreams Classic at the Williamson Fieldhouse.

Fort Gay 28 Burch 25 ( Boys ) 

The Vikings trailed 15-2 at point before rallying for the victory. 

Karter Johnson led the victors with 7 points, Tristian Smith added 6 points, Isiah Maynard netted 5 points, Jameson Evans and Braxton Salmons had 4 points each, Brayden Evans chipped in with 2 points.

Fort Gay 27 West Logan 22 ( Girls ) 

.

Zoey McCoy hit a long two pointer as time was running down to send the game to overtime and the Lady Vikings held West Logan scoreless in the extra session to get the win. 

McCoy and Eastley Waller finished with 10 points each, Alayna Bailey and Chelsey Damron had 3 points each, Aaliyah Waller chipped in with 1 point.

COACH’S COMMENTS

“… We didn’t lead the whole game until overtime and we won by five. Our defense is what kept us in the game. And (6th grader) Aaliyah Waller came in and played some big time minutes and got several steals and rebounds at the end of regulation.”

Fort Gay 46 Harts 39 ( Boys ) 

The Vikings took care of the Lions at home on Tuesday evening. Karter Johnson and Zay Maynard scored 11 points each to lead the Vikings.

Braxton Salmons added 9 points, Jameson Evans netted 8 points and Tristian Smith chipped in with 7 points. 

 

The Fort Gay Boys will play Crum at Tolsia High School on Saturday December 27th at 5:00.
