Venda Lee Moore Lyon,79, passed away Wednesday, October 6, 2025, at Three Rivers Medical Center, Louisa, following an extended illness.
She was sustained every day by her Christian Faith and welcomed the final Peace that she so valiantly sought. A favorite verse she recited often was from Matthew 11:28. “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”
Born in Louisa to the late J. Hager and Francis Wilson Moore, Venda Lee was a member of the Louisa High School Class of 1964 and attended Morehead State University and the University of Kentucky. She graduated from Business College in Columbus, Ohio, and worked in that area for several years. Throughout her life, she worked with her businesses of Lee Enterprises which included management of rental properties and trading of antiques and collectibles.
Venda Lee served her community as a former board member of the Louisa United Methodist Church, and volunteer with the Lawrence County Food Pantry and Humane Society. She enjoyed singing and listening to classical and choir music and was a faithful member of the Hilltop Methodist Church congregation.
In addition to her parents, Venda Lee was preceded in death by her sister, Marsha Lynn Moore Whites, and husbands Harry Morris Akers, Russell J. Dobyns, and Richard S. Lyon.
She is survived by her nephew, Reginald John David Whites and his wife, Ami; a great-niece Jade Marcum (Connor); great-nephews Dean, Wyatt, and Billy Whites; great-great nephews David and Ariael Marcum; and cousins Marcella Browning, Dr. Ben Browning (Heather), all of Louisa, and Melissa Kowal (David) of Jamestown, North Carolina. Memories of Venda Lee will also be celebrated by her lifelong friend, Susie Hale, of Flatwoods, Kentucky and special friends, Dan and Linda Evans of Morriston, Florida.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 11th , 2025, at 1:00 p.m. in Greenlawn Cemetery West, Louisa, with Rev. Seth Evans of Springfield, Ohio, officiating.
Care for Venda Lee and her family is entrusted to Wilson Funeral Home of Louisa.
